The LionHeart Challenge: Track Record

1999-2001:

BRAVEHEART FLOURISHES

From small beginnings in 1999 on the Island of Bute, the tangible benefits of a highly charged experience, which awakened within 140 Pupils the fire of enterprise, ambition and achievement are extended to reach out across the length and breadth of Scotland…as over the next 2 years, The BraveHeart Challenge Programme is delivered to over 150 schools with the National Finals held in the Historic Great Hall of Stirling Castle in 2001, and again in 2002


2002
The Challenge catches the Attention of National Learning & Skills Council for England who identify the Programme’s fit with the Recommendations of the Sir Howard Davies Review.


2003
The LSC commission a National Pilot of The LionHeart Challenge around the 9 Regions of England to test the Programme's effectiveness in nurturing 'enterprise capability'.


2004
Feedback from Schools participating leads National LSC to choose "LionHeart" as their 'Flagship Programme' for the 1st Ever Enterpris Week announced by Chancellor Gordon Brown. The Programme runs as a Flagship Programme in all 9 Regions of England in 2004 with the National Finals held in The Palace of Westminister.


2005
Requests by all participating Schools to bring The LionHeart Challenge Programme 'into' their School to embrace their Entire Year Group Cohorts of Pupils (leads to the development of The LionHeart Challenge Continuum Programme). 


2006
The LionHeart Challenge Continuum Programme is launched in London and the North West and includes, as a core element, the In-School Challenge which embraces Entire Year Group Cohorts of KS4 Pupils. 


2007
The LionHeart Challenge Continuum Programme is introduced 'Nationally' to embrace all 9 Regions.


2008-2009
The LionHeart Challenge Continuum Pathway is developed and expanded, as more and more schools adopted the Mini, Micro and Macro LionHeart Programmes to join the Core LionHeart as part of their Embedded Enterprise delivery.


2010-2011

Now, over 250,000 Pupils Undertake The Challenge Nationwide to Date
